Ricoh WG-M1 Action Cam with Wi-Fi: First Look
The Ricoh WG is reborn as a super-rugged action camera that is also a very capable still camera.
리코, 펜탁스에서 나온 흔히들 액션 캠이라 부르는 카메라.
방수에 추위와 충격에 견디는 카메라다.
그래서 산악자전거나 패러글라이딩, 스키, 보드 등 다양한 스포츠에서 이용되고
바다와 사막 등에서도 유용하다.
또 와이드 앵글로 풀샷을 하나 뻗쳐놓을 때 사용되기도 한다.
14MP 1/2.3-inch 센서로 그리 크지 않다.
그래서 엄청난 화질을 기대할 수는 없고 편한 쓰임새로 특수 카메라라 볼 수 있다.
다른 액션 캠에 비해 좋다는 느낌은 없다.
결과물 역시 감동은 그리 없다.
다만 이 카메라!

The Ricoh WG-M1 is the latest generation of the (formerly Pentax) line of waterproof, cold-proof, and shock-resistant cameras. It is a completely different shape and size from its predecessors, designed for greater portability. Built around a 14MP 1/2.3-inch (6.17x4.55mm) CMOS sensor, the camera records 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio images with an automatically-set ISO range of 100-800.
As you can see in this demo video, the WG-M1 is designed to compete with today's most popular action cameras.
The camera is waterproof to a depth of 32 feet, shock resistant against falls of up to 6 feet, and cold resistant to temperatures as low as -10 degrees celsius. It has an ultra-wide lens that takes in a near-fisheye 160 degrees, with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. It uses contrast-detect autofocus, and has a close focus of 24 inches.
There's a small 1.5-inch LCD monitor with 115k resolution and live view, and we can assume it's there for reference only. The camera is bare-bones basic, with multi-metered autoexposure only. The camera can capture up to 10 fps at full resolution.
Video Capable
For video, the camera can capture up to 1080/30p or 720 resolution at 60 or 30p. It offers a high-speed video mode, able to shoot VGA-quality clips of up to 60 seconds at 120fps. There's a built-in stereo mic and mono speaker.
The Ricoh WG-M1 has 100MB of internal storage but also accepts microSD and microSDHC cards, and has both an orientation sensor and built-in WiFi. A dedicated app lets you control the camera via your smartphone or tablet.
Key-Chain Tiny
At 2.6x1.7x3.5 inches the camera is small—so small that it can be carried using a carbiner—and weighs a mere 6.7 ounces with batteries. A WG adhesive mount attaches the camera to different surfaces; wrist straps, helmet mounts and magnet mounts are available options.
