지난 2014년부터 6회 째 이어지고 있는 <2019 올해의 풍경 사진가> 공모전 수상자가 발표됐다.
최고의 사진은 프랑스 포토그래퍼 마갈리 체스넬 Magali Chesnel의 ‘The Harvest of Road Salt’
요즘 공모전 우승자 리스트에 사진을 정식으로 공부하지 않은 독학 포토그래퍼들이 많이 등장하고 있으며 이러한 경향은 점점 더 늘어날 것으로 예상한다.
마치 한 폭의 그림 같은 사진이다. 수채화 붓 자국 같은 모양들은 실제로는 프랑스 그뤼산 염전으로 이어지는 도로에서 소금을 수확하는 차량의 흔적이다. 옆에서 바라보면 전혀 매력적이지 않지만 버드 뷰로 바라보니 매우 아름다웠다는 것이 마갈리 체스넬의 이야기다. 그는 항상 드론을 가지고 다니고 5개의 배터리를 준비한다고 한다.
<2019 올해의 풍경 사진가> 우승작을 선정하기 위해 미국의 사진 저널리스트 데이비드 버넷과 풍경 사진 전문 매거진의 에디터 팀 파킨 등심사위원단은 전 세계 1천4백여 명의 사진작가들이 보낸 약 3천4백여 점의 사진을 심사했다. 이번 공모전에서는 ‘The Snow and Ice Award’, ‘The Lone Tree Award’, ‘The Heavenly Cloud Award’ 등 새로운 카테고리가 새롭게 편성되었다.
